General
Information
| Car
Registration and Tags |
| |
|
If
you move to Kentucky and bring a car from out-of-state,
you must register your car in Kentucky within
15 days of your arrival. License plates are issued
for a one-year period and are acquired from the
county clerk in your new county of residence.
A usage tax of 6% of the NADA retail value is
charged for each vehicle.
|
| |
| Driver
Licenses |
| |
|
If
you are a resident of, and have a valid driver's
license from another state or country, you may
drive in Kentucky. Do not apply for a Kentucky
license until you become a Kentucky resident.
You must apply for a Kentucky license within 10
days of establishing residence. If you are a new
resident licensed in a United States state, territory
or possession, or Canadian province or territory,
you need only turn in your out-of-state license
and pass vision and written road rules/signs tests
to get your Kentucky license. You'll need to bring
your out-of-state license, signed social security
card, and a copy of your birth certificate. For
those relocating from Arkansas, Connecticut, or
Tennessee, you'll only have to take the vision
test.
Licenses are renewed every 4 years during the
driver's birth month. The original license costs
$8.00, duplicates $6.00.
If you are relocating from within the state of
Kentucky, you must notify the Transportation Cabinet,
Division of Driver Licensing, 501 High Street,
Frankfort, KY, 40622, 502-564-6800, within 10
days. You must also correct your address on your
current license.
|
| |
| Voting |
| |
|
To
register to vote in Kentucky, you must be 18 years
of age, a citizen of the United States, and a
resident of the county for at least 28 days prior
to the election date. You must register to vote
prior to October 10 to be eligible to vote. Voter
registration may be done throughout the year at
the Circuit Court Clerk's Office in your community.
|
| |
| Pet
Licenses |
| |
|
Although
regulations vary by community, most dogs are required
to be licensed. The license should be affixed
to a collar or harness and kept on the dog at
all times. Cats are not required to be licensed.
The fee for the state license is $1.50 per year;
local licensing fees vary.

Cincinnati/Northern
Kentucky International Airport
(CVG) - one of the most modern airports in the
world - offers daily international flights to
Paris, London, Frankfurt, and Zurich, as well
as Toronto and Montreal in neighboring Canada.
Only seven U.S. airports offer more non-stop trans-atlantic
flights.
For Northern Kentuckians who aren't interested
in international travel, the airport also offers
non-stop flights to almost any city in the continental
United States, thanks to the airport's status
as Delta's second largest hub, behind its home
base of Atlanta.
Other smaller commuter airports in the metropolitan
area include Lunken Airport in Cincinnati's East
End and Blue Ash Airport.
